Frequently Asked Questions
Find out all you need to know about our mental capacity assessment costs.
How much does a mental capacity assessment cost
Our assessments start from £520 for virtual appointments and £645 for face-to-face visits (including VAT). Prices vary depending on the type of decision being assessed, for example, property and financial affairs, health and welfare, or testamentary capacity. Fixed-fee pricing ensures there are no hidden costs.
Are travel costs included in the assessment fee?
Yes. Travel fees are typically included in our standard mental capacity assessment cost for most areas our assessors serve across England and Wales. However, an additional fee may apply only for locations outside our usual coverage area.
How long does it take to receive the assessment report?
You’ll receive your court-ready mental capacity assessment report within seven working days of the assessment. If you need it urgently, we also offer a 72-hour express service for an additional fee.
Can I request an urgent or same-week mental capacity assessment?
Absolutely. We understand that some legal matters are time-sensitive. If you require a mental capacity assessment within three working days, please contact our team to arrange a faster appointment.
What does the price of a mental capacity assessment include?
Our price for mental capacity assessments covers everything from the face-to-face or virtual interview to a comprehensive, court-compliant report. There are no additional charges unless additional assessments or visits are requested.
Do different types of capacity assessments cost the same?
Most standard assessments, such as capacity to make a Will, COP3 assessments for health and welfare decisions and managing property and financial affairs, cost the same. Assessments that are more complex, such as capacity to litigate or capacity to sell property, cost slightly more due to their detailed nature.
